Division of Literals

Division of Literals – Definition, Properties, Examples | Literal Division Operations

Division of Literals: Whenever we are asked to do the Division of Literals we will perform by utilizing the symbol /. But here we don’t utilize the properties of Literals such as Commutative, Associative, and Identity which exist in the Addition and Multiplication of Literals. 6th Grade Math students are more beneficial with this Division of Literals concept article. Hence go through the article including the sections like Introduction, Definition, Properties, Solved Examples.

Division of Literals – Definition

It is a method to divide the Literal number by the other number to Evaluate the respective Coefficient is known as the Division of Literals.it is specified with the symbol as (÷) or sometimes with the symbol /

How to Divide the Literal Numbers?

In this section Let us see how the Division of Literals when the Literals are Similar and dissimilar with a few Examples as shown below.
If the Literals are Similar
When the Literals are of similar and performing the Division with the given Literals whose values are not familiar. We will see a few examples as shown below.
(i). x ÷ x
(ii). p ÷ p
(iii). q ÷ q
If the Literals are dissimilar
Similarly, if the Literals are dissimilar and we are not familiar with the values of Literals. We cannot find the Quotient to it. Hence just express the obtained Quotient in algebraic form. A few examples are as stated here.
(i). y ÷ x
(ii). t ÷ r
(iii). u ÷ z

Division of Literals Examples

Example 1.
What is the value when the Literal Number 8 is divided by the 4?
Given two Literals are 8 and 4. Since Literals are different simply state in algebraic form as 8 ÷ 4 which answers 2 as shown below.
8 ÷ 4 =2

Example 2.
What is the Product of 9 and p divided by the Expression (t-8)?
Given question is an Example for Dividing the Dissimilar Literals. Firstly, Here the product of 9 and p is one Literal which is nothing but the 9p, and (t-8) is another Literal. It is expressed in algebraic form as 9p / (t-8).

Example 3.
What is the amount of share of every person attained when R apples are similarly given for the twelve persons?
Given the overall count of Apples Exist = R
Children present = twelve, Hence as per the data Given Every person attains is expressed Algebraically as R ÷ 12

Example 4.
What is the result attained when the Quotient of k by 10 is multiplied by s.
As per the given data,  k is by 10 i.e. k/10.The value k/10 which is attained is multiplied with. Finally, it is Expressed as (k/10)y
= ky/10 is the Overall Resultant value
