For writing money in words and figures we have to know the abbreviations for Rupee, Rupees, and paisa.

The abbreviation for a rupee is Re.

In short notation, rupees can be written as Rs.

The abbreviation for paisa is P.

Suppose we have to write the amount of money having rupees and paisa. To write the amount in figures having both rupees and paisa, we place a decimal point between rupees and paisa. The amount before the decimal point is considered as rupees and after the decimal point is called paisa.
