## What is Addition and Subtraction?

**Addition:** Addition is defined as the summation of two or more numbers. We can add two or more numbers with or without regrouping.

Example: 2 + 3 = 5

**Subtraction:** Subtraction means to reduce the value from another value to get enough value. We can subtract two or more numbers with or without regrouping.

Example: 5 – 3 = 2

You have 9 ribbons and your friend has 4 ribbons. How many more ribbons do you have more than your friend?

**Solution:**

Given that,

You have 9 ribbons and your friend has 4 ribbons.

9 – 4 = 5

You have 5 more ribbons than your friend.

**Example 2.**

18 birds were sitting on a tree. Out of them 6 birds flew away from the tree. How many birds were there on the tree now?

Let us consider 19 and 15

19 + 11 = 30
