To find Cost of Painting or Tilling when Area and Cost Per Unit is Given | Determine the Cost of Painting or Tilling given Area, Cost Per Unit

At times you might need to cover an area or space with paint and this needs money. Thus, it is necessary to know the amount it costs to paint the particular area provided the area, cost per unit. Then, you have come to the right way and we will explain all about the steps on how to find the cost of painting or tilling when area and cost per unit is given.  You can refer to the below-provided examples to understand the concept and determine the cost by area and cost per unit easily.

A simple Trick to be kept in mind by the 5th Grade Math Students while finding the cost of painting or tilling is to multiply the area with cost per unit. The Formula for finding the cost of painting or tilling is as mentioned below

Cost of Tilling or Painting = Area * Cost Per Square Unit

Finding Cost of Tilling or Painting by Area and Cost Per Unit Examples

Example 1.
Find the cost of painting the wall of length 60 m and breadth 30 m at the rate of Rs 8 per sq meter?

Solution:

Given,
The Length of the wall=60 m
The breadth of the wall=30 m
Area of the wall=length × breadth
=60 × 30=1800 sq meters
Therefore, painting the wall=area × cost per square unit
=1800 × 8
=Rs 14400

Example 2.
Find the cost of painting the office of length 320 m and breadth 450 m at the rate of Rs 15 per sq meter?

Solution:

Given,
The length of the office=320 m
The breadth of the office=450 m
We know that Area=length × breadth
=320 × 450
=144000 sq meters
The cost of painting the office=Area × cost per square unit
=144000 × 15
=Rs 21,60,000

Example 3.
If the rate of tiling the floor is Rs 15 per sq meter, find the money needed for tiling the rectangular floor of length 40 cm, width 50 cm?

Solution:

Given,
The length of the rectangular floor is=40 cm
The breadth of the rectangular floor is=50 cm
Area of the rectangular floor=length × breadth
=40 × 50
=2000 sq cm
The rate of tiling the floor is=Rs 15 per sq meter
Money needed for tiling the rectangular floor=Area of the rectangular floor × rate of tiling per square meter
=2000 × 15
=Rs 30000
Therefore, the money needed for tiling the rectangular floor is Rs 30000.

Example 4.
Find the cost of painting the rectangular table of length 90 cm, breadth 30 cm at the rate of Rs 10 per square meter?

Solution:

Given,
The length of the rectangular table=90 cm
The breadth of the rectangular table=30 cm
First, we have to find the area of the rectangular table.
We know that area=length × breadth
Area of the rectangular table=90 cm × 30 cm
=2700 sq cm
The cost for painting the rectangular table is= Area of the rectangular table × rate for painting per square meter
=2700 × 10
=Rs 27000

Example 5.
A contractor is doing the work of tiling the rectangular section of the house floor. If the floor is 4ft x 8ft, and he is going to use square tiles with a side of 5in. How many tiles will be needed?

Solution:

Given,
The floor is =4 ft × 8 ft
The side of the square tiles is=5 inches
Here, the floor is given in feet and tiles in inches.
To convert the feet into inches.
We know that 12 inches equal to 1 foot
The floor is =48 inches × 96 inches =4608 inches
Area of the tile=5× 5=25 sq inches.
No. of tiles needed= 4608/25=184
Hence, No. of tiles needed is 184.

Example 6.
The rectangular floor in Mahesh’s house is 8 feet × 10 feet. He wants to purchase square tiles that are five inches long and five inches wide to cover the floor. If each square tile costs Rs 60, how much money will Mahesh need to spend in order to purchase enough tiles to cover the entire floor?

Solution:

Given,
The rectangular floor is=8 feet × 10 feet
Square tiles=5 inches × 5 inches
Here the floor is given in feet and tiles in inches.
To convert the feet into inches.
We know that 12 inches equal to 1 foot
The floor is =96 inches × 120 inches =11520 inches
Area of the tile=5× 5=25 sq inches.
No. of tiles needed=11520/25=460
Money needed=460 × 60=Rs 27600
Therefore, Mahesh needs Rs 27600 for purchasing tiles.

Example 7.
Sandeep has a rectangular yard. He wants to plant the grass seed. His yard measures 120 ft × 95 ft. The grass seed costs Rs 2 per square foot. How much money does he need to plant the seeds?

Solution:

Given,
Yard measures= 120 ft × 95 ft
Area of the yard= 120 ft × 95 ft=11400 sq ft
Cost of the grass seeds=Rs 2
Money needed by Sandeep=11400 × 2=Rs 22800
Therefore, Sandeep needs Rs 22800 to plant the grass seeds.

Example 8.
What is the cost of tiling a rectangular plot of land 700 meters long and 400 meters wide at the rate of Rs 9 per hundred sq meter?

Solution:

Here,
The length of the rectangular plot=700 meters
The breadth of the rectangular plot=400 meters
Area of the rectangular plot=length × breadth
=700 × 400
=280000 sq meters
Cost of tiling for 100 sq meter=Rs 9
cost of tiling for 1 sq meter= Rs9/100
Cost of tiling=280000 × Rs 9/100
=Rs 25200
Hence, the cost of tiling the rectangular plot is Rs 25200.

Example 9.
Find the cost of painting four walls of a room 20 m long,7 m broad, and 8 m high at cost of rupees 9 per sq m?

 Solution:

Given,
The length of the wall=20 m
The breadth of the room=7 m
The height of the wall=8m
Rate of painting per sq meter=12
The lateral surface area of the room is cuboidal.
We know the formula, LSA=2(l+b)h
The area of four walls is =2(l+b)h
=2(20+7)8
=2 × 27 × 8
=432 sq meters
Cost of painting=432 × 9=Rs 3888.
Therefore, the cost of painting the four walls of a room is Rs 3888.

Example 10.
Find the cost of painting the four walls of a room 30 m long,10 m broad, and 9 m height at cost of rupees 12 per sq meter?

Solution:

Given,
The length of the wall=30 m
The breadth of the room=10 m
The height of the wall=9m
Rate of painting per sq meter=12
The lateral surface area of the room is cuboidal.
We know the formula, LSA=2(l+b)h
The area of four walls is =2(l+b)h
=2(30+10)9
=2 × 40 × 9
=720 sq meters
Cost of painting=720 × 12=Rs 8640.
Therefore, the cost of painting the four walls of a room is Rs 8640.
