How to Round Big Numbers?
There are some steps to round off the large numbers. The below steps will help you to write the numbers nearest to hundred thousand, million, etc.
1. If the number you are rounding off is greater than 5 then you have to round the given number up.
2. If the number you are rounding off is less than 5 then you have to round the given number down.
3. All the numbers to the right of the place are rounding off to become zero.
Rounding Off to the Nearest Ten Thousand
If the digit in the thousands place is less than 5 then round to the nearest multiple of ten thousand which is smaller than the given value. If the digit in the thousands place in a number is greater than 5 such as 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 then round the given number to the nearest multiple of ten thousand.
Example:
Round off 46238 to the nearest ten thousand.
Solution:
The number in the thousands place is greater than 5.
So, we have to round off the number up.
Thus the number 46238 to the nearest ten thousand is 50000.
Rounding Off to the Nearest Hundred Thousand (100,000)
If the digit in the ten thousand place is less than 5 such as 4, 3, 2, 1, or 0, then we have to round the given number to the nearest multiple of hundred thousand. If the digit in the ten thousand places is greater than 5 such as 6, 7, 8, 9 then you have to round the given number to the nearest multiple of a hundred thousand. Therefore to round off the numbers to the nearest hundred thousand we have to see the ten thousand place.

Round off 285648 to the nearest hundred thousand.
Solution:
Here the ten thousand place is greater than 5, so we have to round up the given to the hundred thousand.
The number 285648 to the nearest hundred thousand is 300000.
Rounding Off to the Nearest Million (1,000,000)
If the digit in the hundred thousand’s place is less than 5 that is 4, 3, 2, 1, or 0 then we have to round the given value to the nearest multiple of one million.
If the given digit in the hundred thousand place is greater than 5 such as 5, 6, 7, 9 then we have to round off the given value to the nearest multiple of one million. So, in order to round larger number that is nearest million we have to go through hundred thousand place.

Round off 4286261 to the nearest million.
Solution:
Now we have to round off the given number to the nearest million.
First, you have to check the hundred thousand place.
The number in the hundred thousand place is 2.
Here 2 is less than 5.

Rounding the Given Number to the Nearest Ten Million (10,000,000)
If the number in the one million place is less than 5 such as 4, 3, 2, 1, or 0 then you have to round the given number to the nearest multiple of 10 million which is less than the given number.
If the number in one million place is greater than 5 such as 6, 7, 8, 9 then we have to round off the given number to the nearest multiple of 10 million which is greater than the given number.
