To convert into a fraction, divide it with 100.
=8/100=2/25

1. 50 % of 180
=50/100 * 180
=1/2 *180
=90

=25/100 * 1000
=1/4*1000
=250 g
Hence, 25 % of a kg is 250 grams.
3. 20 % of 250 km
=20/100 *250
=1/5 *250
=50 km
Hence, 20 % of 250 km is 50 km.
4. 30 % of 130 liters
=30/100 *130
=3/10 *130
=39 liters
Hence, 30 % of 130 liters is 39 liters.
5. 40 % of 80 grams
=40/100 *80
=32 grams

Solution:

No. of questions answered correctly=15
Total no. of questions=25
Test score as a percentage=15/25=x%
15/25=x/100
Multiply both sides by 100
1500/25=x
x=60
Therefore, Sandeep’s test score as a percentage is 60%.


VII. A salesman expects a 15% return on the cost price. If his total sales for a month were 5,80,000. Find the profit made by him?

Solution:

Given,
Total sales for a month=5,80,000
Salesman expects a return on cost price=15%
Let the cost price be 100.

selling price 115 units=5,80,000
1 unit=5,80,000/115= Rs 5043.478
15 units=15 × 5043.47
=Rs 75652.05
Therefore, the profit made by the salesman is Rs 75652.


VIII. 1500 people wrote the exam but only 900 people passed the exam. Find the Percentage of students who passed the exam?

Solution:

Given,
No. of people wrote the exam=1500
No. of people passed the exam=900
Percentage of students who passed the exam=900/1500 × 100=0.6 × 100=60%
Hence, 60% of students passed the exam.


IX. Ram gave Rs 45000 to Naresh. After three months, Naresh gave Rs 20000 to Ram. Find the percentage of money Naresh gave to Ram?

Solution:

Given,
Ram gave money to Naresh=Rs 45000
Naresh gave money=Rs 20000
The percentage of money Naresh gave to Ram=20000/45000  × 100
= 0.4 × 100=44%
Hence, Naresh gave 44% of the money to Ram.


X. In a fruit stall there are 300 apples. 40% of apples are riped. Find out how many apples are not riped?

Solution:

No. of apples in the fruit stall=300
Riped apples=40% i.e. 300 × 40/100=120
No. of apples not riped=300-120= 180
Hence, the total no. of apples not riped is 180.


X1. In a cupboard, there are 10 dresses. There are 5 red dresses, 3 blue dresses, and 2 black dresses. Find the percentage of blue dresses in the cupboard?

Solution:

Given,
Total dresses in the cupboard=10
No. of red dresses=5
No. of blue dresses=3
No. of black dresses=2
The percentage of blue dresses in the cupboard=3/10 × 100=30%
Hence, there are 30% of blue dresses in the cupboard.


XII. The cost price of a gift article is Rs1000. The selling price of an article is 1200. Find the profit percentage?

Solution:

Given,
The cost price of a gift article is= Rs1000
The selling price of an article is= 1200
As we know that Profit=selling price-cost price
=1200-1000=Rs 200
Profit percentage=200/1000 × 100=20
Therefore, the profit percentage on the gift article is 20%.


XIII. In a class of 40 children, 5 members did not participate in the games. Find the percentage of students who participated in the games?

Solution:

No. of students in the class=40
No. of members not participating in the games=5
No. of members participated in the games=35
The percentage of students who participated in the games=35/40 × 100=87.5%

XIV. Ramesh scored 15/22 on the test. What percentage is this?

Solution:

Ramesh score=15/22

XV. In an office of 300 employees, the number of female employees is 10 more than 3/5 of male. Find the female employees in the office?

Solution:

Given,
Total no. of employees in the office=300
Let the number of male employees in the office=x
The number of female employees=3x/5+10
x+3x/5+10=300
8x/5=300-10
8x/5=290
8x=1450
x=1450/8=181
Female employees=3(181)/5+10=118
