I. Find the difference between the following numbers

1.Start subtracting from units place. Subtract 5 from 8. I.e. 8-5=3. Place the difference 3 in the respective column.
2.Subtract the digits at tens place. i.e. 5-0=5. Place the difference 5 in the respective column.
3.Subtract the digits at hundred’s place. i.e. 6-1=5. place the difference 5 in the respective column.
4.Subtract the digits at thousand’s place i.e. 4-2=2. Place the difference 2 in the respective column.
Subtracting 2105 from 4658 we get 2553 as the difference.

1.Start subtracting from units place. we know 8 is greater than 5. So borrow 1 from tens then 5 becomes 15. Subtract 8 from 15.

II. Find the number which is 790 less than 4980?

Solution:

1. Subtract the digits in the unit’s place. 0-0=0. Place 0 at the respective column.
2. In the tens column, 9 >8. Borrow 1 from the hundreds column. 8 becomes 18. Subtract 9 from 18. i.e. 18-9=9.

Given,

Raju bought purse=Rs 1000
Any purchase that is more than Rs 3000 will get an instant discount=Rs 300
Total money Raju paid=Rs 3500 +Rs 1000-Rs 300
=4500-300
=Rs 4200
Hence, the Money paid by Raju at the store is Rs 4200.

VII. There were 200 apples in the fruit store. 120 apples were sold. Find out how many apples were there in the fruit store?

No. of apples sold=120
